Advantage should not be applied in situations involving serious foul play unless there is a clear subsequent opportunity to score a goal. The referee shall send off the player guilty of serious foul play when the ball is next out of play."
It's as simple as that. It doesnt matter whether the player is in control of the Tackle, or if the player took the Ball.

ReplyDeleteI think Hadj Rehan has problems with the interpretation of the provision, the provision among others enunciates that ...using one or both legs, with excessive force...advantage should not be applied...there is a clear subsequent opportunity to score a goal...The rules are therefore very simple, if you tackle an opponent with one or both legs with excessive force, it's a straight red card. Vin a solid muscle 6ft Belgian International applied excessive no matter with one or two feet. So the sending off was right!

ReplyDeleteaccording to fifa laws the ref was 100% right to send off kompany, the tackle was so aggresive, we should ask ourselves that, what if kompany got into the legs of nani? we all know the answer that nani would not play the rest of the season!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteAs regard to the excessive force can be determined by the test of a reasonable and prudent man as to whether the force is excessive or not! Again the law as outlined above does not single out that the player must be in a position to score what it states is that a player who tackles an opponent with one or two legs is guilty and advantage should not be applied unless their is a clear subsequent opportunity to score a goal. That means when the victim of the foul is in a posn to score and actually has to score then advantage shall be applied otherwise no! GET THAT!!!!!!!!!!!
